Drug addiction is currently a major problem both in Indonesia and other parts of the world. The estimation number of drug users in Indonesia, according to National Narcotics Board, is approximately 3 million. It is also observed that drug addiction could lead into other health problems, such as HIV/AIDS and mental disorder. Injecting behavior in heroin user lead into HIV infection. There are 8020 cases of AIDS infection among drug users based on 2009 data from Indonesian Ministry of Health. Drug use is classified as a mental disorder based on ICD 10 (International Classification of Disease) and PPDGJ III (Pedoman Penggolongan Diagnosis Gangguan Jiwa di Indonesia III). Drug addiction is associated with other mental problems, specifically neurotic, depression, psychotic, and personality disorder.
